The Context
Developed for a graduate course in instructional story design at UCF. While it began as an academic project, the design decisions of branching decisions, character-driven feedback, and peer reflection reflect the kind of intentional, learner-centered thinking I bring to professional work.
Tools Used:
- Scripting: Microsoft Word & ChatGPT (Script refinement and tone)
- Animated Videos: Vyond
- Sound Design: ElevenLabs, Pixabay, Adobe Premiere Pro
- Delivery: ThingLink and Canvas LMS
The Concept
Burnout is one of the most common and most mishandled challenges in leadership. This scenario-based activity puts learners in the role of a protagonist navigating real workplace situations, making decisions, and living with the consequences. The goal wasn’t just to teach burnout management strategies, it was to make learners feel the weight of those decisions before reflecting on them.
How It Works
Learners move through a branching narrative built in ThingLink, selecting responses at key decision points. Each choice leads to immediate video feedback. The feedback is delivered by a Mentor character who reacts directly to the learner’s choice, alongside allies and antagonists whose roles shift depending on the path taken.

Each scenario closes with an embedded Padlet reflection board, where learners process their choices and engage with peers, turning an individual experience into a shared one.

The cycle mirrors experiential learning theory: act, experience consequences, reflect, and carry that forward into the next scenario.
